Step 2: Restore & Protect

Tackling Oil Stains

Dealing with Fresh Water Stains
Blot Immediately
Gently press a dry microfiber cloth onto the stain to absorb excess moisture. Do not rub!
Let It Air Dry
Allow the leather to dry naturally at room temperature, away from heat or sunlight.
Dampen the Area Evenly
If Vachetta gets soaked, blend the edges with a damp cloth to soften marks. Let it dry naturally.
Buff and Condition
Once dry, gently buff with a soft cloth, then apply a Vachetta leather conditioner to maintain moisture balance.
Dealing with Older Water Stains
Apply Foam Cleaner
Use a soft cloth or applicator brush to gently apply Foam Cleaner over the stained area.
Wipe Away Residue
Carefully wipe off the cleaner with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
Let It Air Dry
Allow the leather to dry naturally at room temperature, avoiding heat or direct sunlight.
Condition with Vachetta Leather Cream
Once dry, apply a thin layer of Vachetta Leather Cream to restore moisture and blend the stain into the patina.
Removing Makeup Stains
💄 Lipstick → Dab with a dry cloth, apply cornstarch to absorb oils, then use micellar water or a bi-phase eye makeup remover. Finish with Foam Cleaner.
💅 Nail Polish → Gently scrape off with a blunt knife while still wet. If dry, use medical alcohol (not acetone!) on a cotton swab and blot carefully.
🎭 Foundation → Blot, sprinkle cornstarch overnight, then wipe away and clean with Foam Cleaner.
👀 Still visible? Repeat cornstarch + cleaning.
✨ Finish with Vachetta Leather Cream to restore moisture after cleaning.
Fixing Sticky Vachetta Surfaces
Stickiness can occur if something like juice, soda, or candy got on the leather – or even from using the wrong care product (some oils or waxes can leave a tacky film).
Use a a Foam Cleaner and a soft brush to remove the sticky residue.
Wipe it clean with a damp cloth. You might need to repeat this once or twice until the stickiness is gone.
As always, the condition with Vachetta Leather Cream after the area is fully dry.
Repairing Cracked or Peeling Vachetta
Cracks can’t be fully reversed, but you can minimize damage and prevent further peeling.
Use Mink Oil to deeply nourish and soften aged, dry Vachetta, reducing the appearance of cracks.
For old Vachetta only! Mink Oil darkens leather, so it’s not suitable for new or light-colored pieces—it can oversaturate and alter the look.
Apply only to completely dry leather and buff gently to restore flexibility without overloading the material.
Mink Oil for Cracked Vachetta
Clean: use foam for heavy dirt or a damp cloth for light. Let it dry completely.
Apply Vachetta Leather Cream and allow to dry.
Apply Mink Oil in circular motions with a brush or cloth. Let it absorb for 1 hour.
Buff with a soft brush or cloth to finish.
Removing Metal Hardware Stains
Why it happens: Oxidation from metal reacts with moisture and oils, leaving greenish or dark stains on Vachetta. Do NOT use vinegar or alcohol — they can damage the leather and worsen stains.
